A sterile surgical gown is a specialized protective garment worn by surgical personnel in the operating room during invasive procedures. It is designed to maintain a sterile field and prevent the transmission of microorganisms between the healthcare provider and the patient. These gowns are sterilized after manufacturing—typically through gamma radiation or ethylene oxide—and are individually packaged to ensure sterility until opened. Made from fluid-resistant, breathable materials such as polypropylene or laminated non-wovens, they cover the body from neck to knees with long sleeves and are secured at the back with ties or adhesive closures.
